In teaching preschoolers, I have been using technology to enhance my teaching strategies. It has been beneficial in hooking my students attention and interest. Another particular use of it is in teaching alphabet sounds. Also, some concepts that can't be brought inside the classroom can be presented using television. Hence using technology appropriately in teaching the very young is essential.
Hello Dr. Jhin and classmates; Efficient and effective delivery/explanations of various subject matter can be attained through technology. The use of powerpoint presentations (with visuals and animations)and the use of internet (includes around the world knowledge)make teaching and learning livelier, enjoyable and fun for me and my students. Technology also decreases the my workload and stress to look for researches, updates, and literatures needed for the preparation of his/her lessons because of the accessibility of information and knowledge through the internet. Technology also helps students better assimilate the information presented in various manner. Effective distribution of knowledge by a teacher to his/her students and vise versa can also be done through on - line courses. Thus, easing the work for both teacher and students since they are able to accomplish their own tasks at their own most convenient time. Storage of knowledge and information through data recording and data base processing can also be utilized through the use of technology, thus, resulting to a paperless work and filing. by: Elisa Ferrer November 28,2011 10 pm

We teach a particular course/subject to attain specific objectives; the use of technology can aid in the attainment of such objectives. With the different teaching methods and techniques that we used in the teaching-learning process, the integration of technology is another means of teaching our learners in a very interesting way. Interesting in such a way that it can help meet the learning styles of our students.
The definition of technology had been redefined by the likes of Gates, Jobs, and Zuckerberg. Before they were born, technology is simply defined as applied science.
As what Gary mentioned, it is all about the learning styles of children nowadays, they could easily master how to make a computer work or follow the links in the internet faster than solving a mathematical problem. Students nowadays are so visual and kinesthetic. The more that they touch and see it, the more that they will easily master the concept.
Students nowadays are into games, facebook, and instant messengers. It is a challenge for us teachers to tap into their interests particularly technology and expose them to the advantages of using technology....
Hello Dr. Jhin and everyone! Whether we like it or not, the future will always have something to do with technology because we are progressing. We will never do away with it so it is a must that we have a full grasp of it because before we know it, we are already left behind. The children holding the future live in a world of technology and how can we help them? As molders of dreams, I believe we be part of these children's future by learning what they do and by using what they enjoy the most in the classroom. Of course technology can never replace the teacher but the teacher will always be remembered when he or she teaches in a manner that captivates and causes the students to learn. Yes there will be disadvantages but as what Bags wrote, let's be more particular and expose them more to its advantages. Thank You and God bless!
Indeed that tchnology can never replace a teacher but its just so sad that nowadays, some teachers but not all are being too dependent on technology... As teachers, like what mam shin mentioned before in our discussions, we should be the best visual aids. We should still keep in mind that it is our attitude towards learning that best motivates them to be better individuals. We should learn how to be "projectors" of optimism towards education as a tool in improving standards of life. We as teachers are also products of technology. The science of teaching and God''s unconditional and miraculous technology. Merry Christmas everyone!
From your responses, it seems that you are all in agreement of the fact that technology will benefit the teacher and the students in various ways when it is integrated in the teaching-learning process. Educators cannot deny the fact that there is a need for them to be in keeping with the advances of technology. Let us not be the last to know how technology works. ;-p
Integrating technology in teaching makes learning fun,it help pupils understand better. This is one strategy use to let pupils concentrate and focus their attention to the lesson. It benefits both learner and the teacher.
The world constantly changes. And we are affected in different ways. Some teachers nowadays are struggling to cope up with the effect of changes the new generation has brought. Changes in the information taught, how it is taught, changes in the students being taught, and a lot more changes. It's a challenge for teachers in the 21st century. In a battle, having the right weapon and a very good strategy, winning can be achieved with less difficulty and much possibility of success. Technology has become a teacher's weapon besides the teacher himself. Technology, in researches, has proven to be effective in classroom integration. However, there are cases that says its the opposite. Well, everything has its limitation. But then again, as I have mentioned earlier, effectiveness is due to right weapon and a good strategy. We cannot do away with technology, as it is already a part of our life. It has made changes and will make more changes. Changes we need to internalize and live with it. Changes we, teachers, need to use with our students in order to make better and more productive changes.
Education is evolving, so we must be abreast with technology. Most of our students are born in the information age. They were born with "computers and the internet." Many technological advances made it possible for us to do things easily and quickly --from PDAs to IPODs and IPADs, etc. And our students are exposed to all these techies, so it is but just necessary that we integrate technology in our classrooms today. I, for one, is a teacher of Mass Communications. For me to be able to really and holistically teach them, I should upgrade myself and my skills in info tech. Say for example, in my Journalism class, I should make sure that I do not only teach my students the "basic rudiments" of the subject. I should also include that, like humans, journ has also evolved --from print publications (newspapers, magazines, etc.) and NOW their ONLINE versions. That journalists nowadays should not only know HOW to write, because over and above that BASIC skill, they should also know photography, editing, layouting, desktop publishing, etc. They (Journ students) should be holistic. We must also accept the fact that technology is here to STAY. It will continue to evolve or upgrade, so education must also "evolve" and "upgrade." The SCHEMA theory can also be applied in the classroom. Educators would use "existing knowledge/experience" of the students as a springboard to their lessons. Since students can "identify" or "relate" with the experience, they tend to listen or participate more.
In addition, through education, we would be able to "guide" and "direct" them when it comes to ethical responsibilities of a technology user (which, surprisingly, many are not aware of). :-)
Time is always moving clockwise which means that people, things, and others in existence should also move forward. Teachers can't always complain about how children/ learners have changed over the years. We, teachers, often compare the present days to the days when we were young (time immemorial =)). We have to do something about it. And technology is largely one of the things that causes this CHANGE among our students. If we don't want to be left behind...if we don't want to lose our job... if don't want to be replaced by computers...then we have to responsibly embrace ICT integration in teaching.
The trend of today speaks more about technology. In our day to day activities, we rely on technology to facilitate and to make things easy for us.Now that everybody is into it then why not integrate technology in the classroom. My dealings and interaction with my students made me discover the huge interest of my students in internet information. And i found out that most of them are more knowledgeable in using the computer than me. Technology makes learning more fun and exciting for the students because they experience new way of learning than the traditional- paper and pencil way.Students were given the chance to explore, experience, and research information through the used of Internet, radio, TV,videos, cellphones and the like. This method will become the teachers best audio-visual aid to gain students interest and to increase students performance in the classroom.
In more and more schools today, technology is recognized as an instructional tool, not as a subject of instruction. Still, many educators, less familiar and less comfortable with technology than their students, struggle to seamlessly integrate a growing list of technology tools into their regular curriculum. Which is why teachers need to be educated in this area. As with any educational intervention, the effectiveness of technology depends upon the appropriate selection and implementation of that technology to meet teaching and learning goals. Once selected, technology-use must be a regular, integral part of an instructional program and not viewed as an add-on in order to have a positive effect on achievement
